JAMMU, Sept 5: Bhatindi police post incharge, SI Mehmood Khan has been attached with the DPL here for allegedly helping the accused in an assault case.
His attachment order was issued by incharge SSP, Jammu, after he himself visited the police post and found the allegations to be true, according to police sources.
Sources said over some land dispute, Mohammad Majid and his brother Mohammad Yousaf, both residents of Sunjwan, were assaulted on August 26 last while they were returning home in their car.
A PDP leader's name had also figured in the attack. A case in this connection was registered at the Bhatindi police post on the victims' complaint. Some accused were rounded up but instead of questioning them and keeping them in the lockup, police gave them VIP treatment at the police post, sources alleged.
They were given a separate room to sleep and also allowed to have the best food from outside the police post, sources alleged, saying he was alleged to be doing all this at the instance of a politician.
After the complaints in this regard were made to the incharge SSP, Jammu, he visited the police post late at night and found the allegations to be true, sources claimed.
Taking a serious note of it, the SSP ordered his attachment with the DPL, sources said.
However, a new incharge of the Bhatindi police post was yet to be posted.
