Pak launches internet version of anti-India radio | To strengthen `liberation' movement in Kashmir | | Javaid Naikoo Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Sept 5: An anti India Radio station 'Radio Sada-e-Hurriyat- Jammu-wa-Kashmir' started in 1991, has now launched its round the-clock internet version from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) to broadcast the programmes to strengthen "Kashmir liberation movement." The announcement was posted on one noted Pakistan-based online news portal "Kashmir Media Service (KMS)" known for publishing anti-India content. Information posted on the website of KMS said that, Radio Sada-e-Hurriyat- Jammu-wa- Kashmir has launched its round-the-clock internet transmission which now onwards will be featuring current news after every hour, commentaries, reports, talk shows and revolutionary songs. According to the information, Radio Sada-e-Hurriyat- Jammu-wa- Kashmir, has been working for the last 24 years, and, is broadcasting programmes to strengthen the "Kashmir liberation movement" in Kashmiri, Urdu, English and Hindi languages. KMS has posted a link to the Internet radio of Radio Sada-e-Hurriyat- Jammu-wa- Kashmir on its website asking visitors to download and listen to the Radio. Historians in Kashmir say that during early 1990,Pakistan would broadcast many progarammes in the morning and in the evenings on Radio Stations operating from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir to propagate Jihad in Jammu and Kashmir against India. They said that all such radio stations would broadcast songs and news bulletins in exaggerated tones to ask youth of Jammu and Kashmir to join militancy and visit Pakistan for arms training for the purpose. Historians said that when militancy was at its peak in Jammu and Kashmir in early 90's, broadcasting programmes on such Radio stations to propagate Jihad among Kashmiri Youth with exaggerated figures of Killings in Jammu and Kashmir allegedly by the hands of security forces would motivate youth to a massive extent to cross over to Pakistan for arms training and wage war against India later on their return. They said that to counter Pakistan sponsored programmes like "Sada-e-Kashmir" on their Radio stations, India had to use counter tactics to inform Youth about purpose of running such progarammes through renowned programmes like "Sada-e-Jaaraas" from Srinagar and Jammu and Radio stations. In addition to war against each other thorough weapons, both India and Pakistan, according to reports would highlight their success and propagate sentiments among people through various progarammes aired from both sides. Historians say that on many occasion they heard that Authorities had censored Programmes broadcasted in air from Pakistan Radio stations and TV Channels; however, due to least access to technology and communication means they do not remember whether such restrictions were lifted later or are still in place. |
