Ramban teachers observe 'teachers day' as black day

Ramban, Sept 5: The teachers of Ramban district under the banner of the All J&K Rehbar-e-Taleem Teachers' Forum(AJKRETTF) today observed the 'Teachers Day' as the Black Day' and held a protest demonstration at Tourist Bungalow here today.
The protesters mostly the Rehbar-e-Taleem(ReT) and the lady teachers working in the Kasturba Gandhi Ballika Vidyalaya(KGBV) were protesting against the insensitive and apathetic attitudes of the state government for not acceding to their long pending genuine and logical demands since long.
Their major demands included non-payment of salaries to those RETs-both regularized and non-regularised for last about five months ; non-payment of Mid Day Meal(MDM) payments for past 18 months ; non-regularisation of ReTs and the KGBY teachers despite completing the stipulated period and the non-implementation of the transfer policy for ReTs despite the J&K High Court's directions.
Expressing dismay on the lackadaisical attitude of the government, Gulzabir Daing accompanied by Akhter Abbas Naik,President and General Secretary AJKRTTF respectively castigated the J&K Education Minister, Naeem Akhter and said that "on the Teachers' Day when in every state the teachers are being felicitated or honoured and are being hailed as the makers or the corner stone of the society and exhorted to put in their best in the human resource development of the country the members of AJKRETTF are being denied of their basic rights and badly discriminated". Their other grievances included irrational freight for carrying MDM ration to remote hilly areas having no roads ; issuance of underweight rice bags for MDM ; issuance of less rice against the enhanced receipts ; purchasing of MDM ration and payment of freight by teachers from their pockets and non-implementation of detachment order in letter nd spirit in Ramban district.
