Early Times Report

Srinagar, Sept 5: Movement for Peace, Equality & Justice (MPEJ) appealed the Education Minister, Naeem Akther to consider the plight of the private schools in right perspective and understand the services being rendered by them to the common masses.
They demanded provision of financial assistants to the schools & the teachers to meet the expenses on account of the contribution towards Provident Fund as the staff of the private schools & the schools themselves are not in a position to contribute 26% P.F in the light of their meager salary & insufficient income of at least 90% of the private Schools existing in the state. It is a well known fact that the government spends around two lakh rupees on every student in government schools and still the level of quality education in government schools is not so efficient as compared to the private schools & the government schools need much and more push and pull to come to the level of education of the private schools of the state. Therefore the government should come to the rescue of private schools and provide the basic facilities to these schools as also simplify the process of granting extension from time to time and relieve them from the cumbersome process in obtaining the extension of recognition from the Education department.
The Joint inspection conducted by J&K State Board of School Education & Education department and Joint committee of recognition/ affiliation of BOSE & Education department be treated as final for granting extension of recognition/ affiliation of Private Schools. Requiring separate order of extension of recognition from Secretariat causes un-necessary delay coupled with harassment. Another malpractice is being done in the secretariat in education department these days. Files, complete in all respect, are getting lost this happens only with those small schools, who can't afford and so do not pay money there.
The concerned commissioner be directed to take action against these officials who are responsible for showing the files as lost, which are actually lying in the office The recent Education policy of state government has also created great hurdle and bottleneck in the smooth functioning of the private schools, SRO 123 should be amended and also introduced in government schools.
