Srinagar, Sept 5: In three encounters in the last eight days in the north Kashmir, nine militants were shot dead by security forces while one was captured alive. Two army jawans also sacrificed their lives in these gun battles. The operation to track down the militants was launched on August 27 last, following inpouts about the presence of militants at Panjula in north Kashmir. In two days of operation, forces shot dead four militants, besides capturing one of their accomplices, a Pak national, alive. All these five militants had infiltrated into the Indian territory from across the Line of Control (LoC), official sources said. On September 2, one militant was killed by security forces in another encounter in Ladoora village. One army jawan had also lost his life in this gun fight.Four militants were shot dead Thursday. One jawan was also killed. |
