jammu, Sept 5: The Horticulture department organized 2-day horticulture orientation course for Village Agriculture Extension Assistants (VAEAs).
The training was organized on the direction of Commissioner, Agriculture Production Department M.A. Bukhari.
During the course, the participants were made aware about the methodology adopted by the Department to implement various Schemes and Programmes. They were also acquainted with the campaign the department has launched to educate the farmers about the low cost technologies for the substantial income out of horticulture crops. The department has already framed strategy to produce high quality planting material in its departmental nurseries to assist the farmers to take up various activities on modern scientific lines. The plan has been accredited by National Horticulture Board.
The resource persons included Deputy Director Horticulture (Central) Jammu, Rajeev Mahajan, Shafiqa Khalid, Assistant Director Horticulture (Course Coordinator), District Level Subject Matter Specialist, Mukesh Kumar Sharma, Anil Gorka, Ashwani Sharma and other senior functionaries.
Director Horticulture, Jammu also interacted with the participants and impressed upon them to work with more dedication and sincerity in field to disseminate technical know-how to the farmers to adopt commercial Horticulture for their livelihood. |
