Jammu, Sep 6:Children's Welfare Society (CWS) celebrated 5th September as "Save Female Foetus Day", at SOS Channi Rama Jammu. According to press release, on this occasion, the chairman of the society, Gurdeep Singh Sasan was chief guest. Addressing gathering he said that he was started crusade against female feticide and other social evil prevailing in the society in 2005 and since then the society has been observing 5th Sepember as "Save Female Foetus Day". He said that there is a dire need to make people aware about the consequences and repercussions of female feticide. He said that under present PC - PNDT Act the maximum punishment was upto 5 years imprisonment or fine of Rs. 5000 but despite of these, some ultra sound centre blatantly doing illegal practices, adding, "It is a clear cut murder, violence against female, destroy of evidence, unethical, unreligious which creates hatred against particular gender", he said.
He appealed to the people to kindly adopt at least one female poor child for education purpose. Sasan expressed his gratitude to all those who have been observing 5th September his Birthday as ""Save Female Foetus Day". . |
