| Alleged kidnapper ends life | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Sept 6: A youth, resident of Saharanpur district in Uttar Pardesh (UP), involved in the alleged kidnapping of a minor girl from Rajouri city is alleged to have committed suicide before Rajouri police could apprehend him from his hiding place in U P.
The deceased has been identified as 24 year old Shahzad Khan s/o Kalu Pathan Khan resident of Muskipur in Deoband tehsil in Saharanpur district.
After the alleged kidnapping incident had come to their notice on September 2 last, Rajouri police had swung into action immediately and rounded up several colleagues of the accused from Rajouri town.
Though all the rounded up persons denied their involvement in the kidnapping yet while condemning the incident they assured the police (SSP) to help them in tracing the accused in Sahranpur and in his village and its adjoining areas.
"One of his colleagues succeeded in collecting information about the accused along with the girl and asked his family members to keep both in the house of his sister and also informed Rajouri police" said SSP.
Under the supervision of Dr Haseeb Mughal, SSP a police party was rushed to Saharanpur to arrest the accused and to recover the girl but before the police party could reach the targeted place the accused, who reportedly came to know about the police team' allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of the room where he was kept isolated, police sources said.
The suicide committed by the accused created law and order problem for the UP police as well as for the Rajouri police . But UP police under the supervision of Additional SP and SHO concerned not only controlled the situation but also helped Rajouri police in performing medical checkup of the girl and other legal formalities, sources informed.
"Not only this Additional SP and SHO also brought the girl and provided security to Rajouri police party till they enter the boundary of Punjab state and handed over the girl to Rajouri police" said SSP.
He said after legal formalities and medical checkup, the girl was handed over to the family members in the late hours on Friday. |
