It is hawalabaaz versus hawa Baazi in India
9/11/2015 10:47:24 PM
The overall politics in India has been
reduced to a verbal attack between the
BJP and the Congress. It is an encounter between "hawalabaaz (corrupt) and "hawa Baazi"(hot air). Hawa Baazi expression was used rather coined by Congress President, Sonia Gandhi, while she referred to the failure of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi,in fulfilling series of commitments he had made to people during the 2014 Lok Sabha poll campaign. In fact Sonia Gandhi had in her mind the decision of the BJP to withdraw the Land Acquisition bill and issues connected with the failure of the BJP led NDA Government in bringing about "Ache Din"(good days).Whether the way Congress disrupted the Monsoon session of the Parliament was right or wrong will have to be decided by people who are to exercise their right to vote in the Assembly election in Bihar. It is for the people in Bihar to teach the Congress a lesson if it was wrong in preventing the BJP from adopting various Bills in the two Houses of Parliament. It is for the people of Bihar to support the Congress if people believed that by disrupting the proceedings of the Lok Sabha the Congress did not allow the BJP to pass bills that were anti-people and anti-farmers. It is so because the Congress is a part of the grand alliance in Bihar which has been forged ,what its founders call, to prevent the communal forces to regain power in Bihar.
But Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has hit back at the Congress by berating it for not allowing Parliament to function during the monsoon session, terming it hawalabaaz (corrupt) and accusing it of creating roadblocks for the Government. He held the Congress responsible for preventing the BJP from initiating constitutional measures which could have bettered the lot of people. In this respect he stated that the Congress was gripped by panic when the BJP led NDA Government when several decisions were taken one after another in the Parliament. The hawalabaaz were worried at the tough decisions by the government against black money. They could sense trouble ahead. That's why they started raising hurdles in the way of the Government which wanted to finalise several other major decisions. Modi's attack on the Congress came after its president, Sonia Gandhi, on Tuesday launched a frontal attack on Mr. Modi, terming his electoral promises as nothing more than hawa baazi (hot air). The BJP had hoped that the Congress will work with the ruling party, help Parliament in enforcing (fiscal) reforms but ek hai jo manta nahi (there is one who does not agree). The Congress has not been able to digest defeat (in Lok Sabha elections)Assuring the people of India about fulfilling their dreams, the Prime Minister appealed to those defeated and rejected by the people to please let the nation move ahead.
Well the Congress has simply emulated what the BJP had done during the 10 years the Congress was in power in India. For days together the Lok Sabha would face adjournments because of the hue and cry raised by the BJP MPs. However, disruptions in the proceedings of the Lok Sabha did not remain a prolonged affair and despite the BJP ruckus the Congress and its allies could adopt various bills. Though the Congress has won 40 seats in the Lok Sabha but the support from several other parties has given added strength to the Congress to force the BJP to keep various bills pending. It seems that the Congress, which has remained in power for more years than any other party, is not prepared or is not mentally prepared to sit in the opposition. Hence it has decided to keep on disrupting the proceedings of the Parliament to register its presence and relevance. It is in the light of this development that Modi has stated that every political party must leave no stone unturned to meet public expectations if it won and also introspect in case of defeat. But he is sorry over the failure of the Congress in introspecting the reasons for its defeat and measures that were needed to strengthen its vote bank.Modi has made a claim by saying that the BJP had faced defeat in 1984. The party introspected and tried to learn from that defeat. But it didn't criticize others and corrected its mistakes instead. And nation has given the BJP the majority in the Lok Sabha when at one time the BJP had only two MPs in the Lok Sabha it had only two MPs. The Congress had 400 seats but has been reduced to 40 seats in the Lok Sabha. Possibly Modi wants the Congress to play a responsible role and if it does not allow the BJP led Government to work the Congress is bound to invite anger from people.
