JAMMU, Sept 11: Government MAM College retained the annual inter-college men's basketball trophy after they outplayed the combined side of Post Graduate (PG) Departments by a margin of 18 points in the high scoring (80-62) title clash that took place at MA Stadium, here this morning.
Shubham Sharma and Arjun defended well from PG in the first three quarters of the game but the young side of MAM College, led by Amanjot, Karan and Rohan, turned the game around in the fourth and final quarter to win the final and title also.
The final was officiated by the technical panel comprising Aman Sharma (SAI Coach), Manoj Kumar, Sumit Dogra, Rajesh Bhagat and Harpreet Singh.
Sports Officer of the J&K State Sports Council, Rajan Sharma was chief guest in the final, who gave away the title trophy to MAM College. This tournament was organised by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu. The event held under the supervision of Vikas Karlopia.
Prominent among those present were Balbir Singh Chib (PTI MAM College), Romesh Sharma, Gagan Kumar, Ranbir Singh and Raj Kumar Bakshi.
KHO KHO: Meanwhile, in inter-college men's kho-kho competitions, the Post Graduate (PG) Departments have been pitted against Government SPMR College of Commerce in the final slated to be held on September 14 (Monday). Earlier, in the semifinals, played today at JU grounds, here PG beat Government MAM College 10-07 while Commerce College trounced Government Degree College (GDC) Samba by a wafer thin margin of one point with final score being 09-08.
Today's semifinals conducted by the technical penal including Anil Sharma, Gagan Kumar, Anil Kumar, Mohd. Israr and Sachin Kumar.
BADMINTON: Semifinals position has been cleared in both men and women sections of inter-college badminton tournament underway at Gymnasium Hall on the JU campus, here today.

MEN: GDC Kathua beat IDS Sehora 3-0. Singles: Ankit Mahajan beat Mujeeb-Ul-Rehman 21-16, 09-21, 21-11; Rohit Verma beat Anoop Mahajan 21-06, 21-02.
Doubles: Raghu and Ankit beat Mujeeb and Anoop 21-11, 21-11.
PG Departments beat GDC Hiranagar 3-0. Singles: Sahil Mathur beat Akhil Gupta 21-11, 21-11; Aman Badyal beat Dheeraj Sharma 21-03, 21-10. Doubles: Sahil and Aman beat Sourabh and Akhil 21-05, 21-07.
