Early Times Report

JAMMU, Sept 14: On the occasion of Kashmiri Hindu Balidan Divas, the Panun Kashmir organized a seminar here today at Jammu Club on the topic 'Current Situation in J&K-standing upto the New Challenges'. Rich tributes were paid to the martyrs who laid down their lives for maintaining the security and integrity of Indian nation in Jammu & Kashmir.
Sharadhanjali was paid to the brave souls who martyred themselves in Jammu & Kashmir fighting the Islamists Jehadis and sacrificed their lives in upholding the Indian traditions and honour of Bharat Mata. The internally displaced Kashmiri Hindus have been observing this day since 1990 as The Kashmiri Hindu Martyr's Day (Balidan Divas). On this day in 1989, the Kashmir Hindu leader Tika Lal Taploo fell a martyr to the bullets of Islamist terrorists who are responsible for Hindu genocide and religious cleansing in Kashmir. While paying floral tributes to the martyrs, the participants also undertook a pledge to dedicate themselves to preserve the Collective Memory as the highest value so as to create a new future, with a profound commitment to preserve their identity, and to realize their Homeland.
While addressing the gathering, BS Salathia while speaking said the type of situation existing in valley speaks volumes about the control of radical communal elements on the society. If Kashmiri Pandits are taken back in this type of environment, it will be like handing them over for conversion. Salathia further said that the Jammu lawyers' fraternity will not stand as mute spectators while the high court orders on the ban of cow slaughter are defied with impunity in the state.
Dr Agnishekhar while speaking on the occasion stressed upon the need to preserve the consciousness of exile. He stated that "in exile we have built our life not in an aimless way. We have consciously chosen to live in clusters and localities where we can nourish our community life. We have built temples and shrines of our deities and gurus. We observe our traditions and festivals with intensity, gaiety and religious fervor. The linkages that we have been able to build, among ourselves and with our rituals, folk lore and tradition, have reinforced our identity.
Prof Hari Om was highly critical of certain acts of the present dispensation in his address. Calling the Agenda of Alliance as an agenda of capitulation, he called upon the central leadership to withdraw this document and renegotiate the terms of alliance with PDP. This renegotiation should have the central focus on nation building paradigm and to redeem the Kashmir valley from the grip of radicalism and anti India propagandists.
He emphasized that "it is needless to mention that almost all the separatists and terrorist, including the so-called moderate separatist elements like Huriyat Conference, belong to the school of Islamism. They have nothing to do with secular values and lndianness. This is the encouragement to such elements which is leading to more radicalization.
