PDP-BJP to oppose NC's 'communal' bill | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 14: The PDP-BJP alliance will oppose any bill by the National Conference to seek changes in the Ranbir Penal Code that bans sale of beef in the State. The coalition partners will rather give a reply to the court in the next hearing scheduled after four weeks. "The NC's likely bill about bring changes in the RPC is purely on communal lines. The party knows that if a bill is accepted it will have strong reactions in the country and will make things uncomfortable for the alliance. It's deliberately trying to create a wedge between the two partners for petty gains," said sources. They said the beef ban is religiously and politically too hot issue. The politically constituencies of the alliance partners are too sensitive on this issue, so the two partners have decided to take recourse in the court. "The Government in its reply before the court will give the view point on the section 298-A and also on section 298-B. The reply of the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir will also put before the court the religious sensitivities and then appeal to the court to take a decision on the facts given before it," said sources. The court had issued an order after the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir didn't file an appropriate reply and took it casually, leading to such a political volatile situation. Source said Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is having thorough deliberations with the BJP and also with the Law Department in finalizing the reply and he will approve it. "The CM has agreed to oppose the amendments to be made by the NC. So he will personally approve the reply of the Government before the court which will handle the things in a mature manner to the satisfaction of the all," said sources. |
