BJP leaders disappoint Jammuites | | | ET Report JAMMU, Sept 14: Ban on slaughtering of bovine animals and sale of beef in Jammu and Kashmir has taken away the focus from imposition of tax on chopper service to Vaishno Devi shrine and inability of BJP leaders to revoke this decision. The Jammu based Members of Legislative Assembly including Minister have failed to look after the interests of people of Jammu on the whole. They have been swayed by the Kashmir oriented and Kashmir centric politics of PDP and other parties and seem to have forgotten the real issues of people of Jammu region. Imposition of 12.5 per cent extra tax on chopper service hurts pilgrims of Vaishno Devi but Jammu leaders have not uttered a single word in this regard. Instead they are enjoying the cool breeze of Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Dal Lake. They don't even bother to raise their voice in cabinet meetings and at other platforms regarding issues related to people of Jammu directly or indirectly. They must take a cue from Kashmir centric politicians, including BJP leaders, who were abrupt in reacting to the beef ban and decided to organise a beef party but on the other hand BJP leaders of Jammu don't bother to say a single word of condemnation regarding the increase of tax on chopper services. This tax issue seems to have gone under carpet and no one is bothered about it. The Kashmir based politicians know the tactics how to involve Jammu Ministers and MLAs in other activities and divert their attention from issues related to their constituencies. One such example is of Minister for PHE, Sukhnandan, who was made chief guest on the inaugural function of Kashmir Marathon. He was made to brief the press about the misbehaviour by some miscreants today in the Civil Secretariat because the issue was concerned to Kashmir valley. But when it comes to brief media or people about Jammu issues, no such press conference was held, either in Jammu or in Srinagar. This has exposed BJP Ministers and MLAs and people are keeping an eye on each and everything. |
