Mian Qayoom re-elected as President Kashmir Bar | | | Srinagar, Sept 14: Kashmir High Court Bar Association today re-elected senior Advocate Mian Abdul Qayoom as its president who defeated his nearest rival advocate G N Shaheen by a margin of 197 votes. According to spokesperson, nine candidates were in fray for the general elections of the executive body of Bar Association for which polling was held at Sanat Ghar Bemina here today. Qayoom secured 329 votes and defeated his rival and former Bar general secretary Shaheen who got 232 votes. Meanwhile Aijaz Bedar was reelected Vice President after he defeated his only rival Advocate Abdul Ahad Rather by a convincing margin of 322 votes. Advocate Bashir Sidiq defeated advocate Mohammad Ashraf Wani for the post of General Secretary by a margin of 177 votes. Advocate Anwar-ul-Islam Shaheen declared elected as joint secretary while Hamid Shafi was declared elected unopposed as treasurer of organization.
