Jammu, Sept 14 : Supported by the J&K State Sports Council, the All J&K Chess Association is all set to host the 41st National Sub-junior for boys and 32nd National Sub-junior for girls' championship at the Winter Capital from September 21 to September 29. Being held in the state for the first time, the national event shall take place at Jalsa Retreat banquet, near Domana, on Jammu-Akhnoor road, here. Around 350 young players and officials from nearly 20 states of the country are expected to take part in the competition. This was stated by president of the Association, Atul Kumar Gupta in a press conference held here this morning. He was accompanied by vice presidents of the Association, Baldev Raj and Taranvir Singh Gujral, coordinator, Vikas Nanda and Dr AS Bhatia. "About 40 international level players in both boys and girls categories have confirmed their participation. A big number of around 40 players from J&K are expected to take part in the event. Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga shall declare open the meet on September 21," informed Atul. In all, 11 rounds under Swiss system will be played in this event and a cash prizes worth Rs two lacs will be given away to those winners. "Top games in this tournament will be shown live on Internet through Monroi systems. Anand Babu, an expert from Chennai will operate live games infra for this event. International Arbiter, Nitin Shenvi of Maharashtra shall be the Chief Arbiter and he will be supported by other Arbiters from Chennai, Assam, Rajasthan and hosts, J&K for smooth conduct of this event," disclosed vice president of the Association, Baldev Raj. |
