Protest demonstrations, seminars, public meetings mark 26th Balidan Divas by KPs

Jammu, Sept 14: Protest demonstrations, seminars and public meetings marked the observance of 26 th Balidan Diwas by Kashmiri Pandits all over the country today.
On this day 26 years back, the veteran KP leader and the then State vice president of BJP Tika Lal Taploo had fallen to bullets of Pak terrorists in Srinagar city of Kashmir Valley which was followed by
the selective killings of the members of Hindu minority community including intellectuals, political leaders, social activists, professors and lawyers etc forcing the mass exodus of the entire
minority Hindus from Kashmir.
The KP organizations Panun Kashmir , Roots in Kashmir, Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC), Kashmiri Hindu Conference (KHC) and other social and religious organizations of the community observed the day and paid glowing tributes to martyrs.
At Jammu Panun Kashmir led by Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo observed the Kashmiri Pandit Balidan Divas at Dogra Chowk where a protest demonstration was held by PK activists. This day is being observed by
the Kashmiri Pandit community as the Balidan Divas since 1990 in commemoration of the martyrdom of Pandit Tikalal Ji Taploo and also the persecution that was inflicted upon the Kashmiri Pandit community
in the valley of Kashmir. The Kashmiri Pandit community was made the selected victim of terror and terrorism, murder and mayhem on a large scale resulting in their mass exodus from the valley in 1989-90. The protesters carrying placards and posters raised slogans against terrorism and apathy of the government towards the Kashmiri Pandits. The demonstration was attended by the activists of the Kashmiri Pandit organizations. It was addressed by Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President-Panun Kashmir, D.N.Kissu, Chairman- ADKPUF, Sardar Prem
Singh, President-KSDF, Virender Raina, Spokesperson-Panun Kashmir, Kamal Bagati, Org. Secretary and Sameer Bhat, Convener-Panun Kashmir Youth.
The participants raised slogans against the apathy of the government towards the displaced community for the last more than two decades. The leaders said that the observance of the 14th September as the
Martyrs' Day reminds the community of the historical facts regarding its ethnic cleansing and genocide. Those who forget the facts of history are condemned to live it again and that is why the leadership of the community has to remain on guard against any hasty and apolitical move regarding the settlement of the community in Kashmir.
Panun Kashmir led by Dr Agnishekhar and Dr Ajay Chrungoo observed a seminar at Jammu Club here to observe the Balidan Diwas today. The topic of seminar was current situation in J&K standing upto the new challenges. On the occasion rich tributes were paid to the martyrs who laid down their lives for national cause during last 26 years of Pak sponsored proxy war in Jammu &Kashmir.
The speakers said on this day Taploo fell to the bullets of the Islamic terrorists in Valley who are responsible for Hindu genocide in the Valley.
B S Salathia former president Bar Association of Jammu, Dr Agnishekhar convenor PK, Prof Hari Om a prominent scholar and Dr Ajay Chrungoo chairman PK spoke on the occasion.
Another protest demonstration was held by Roots in Kashmir at Jantar Mantar New Delhi where the speakers besides paying tributes to martyrs and Tika Lal Taploo accused the successive governments for betraying the displaced Pandits by not restoring their homeland to them.
Panun Kashmir activists also paid tributes to martyrs at New Delhi today on the occasion of 26 th Balidan Diwas. A programme was organized by Ramesh Manwati senior leader PK in which the speakers
recalled the role of martyrs and said that their contribution will be always remembered.
Kashmiri Pandit Conference observed the day as Black Day be wearing black badges and switching off the lights at their residences and business establishments for one hour in the evening as a mark of
protest against the holocaust of the community. Paying tributes to Taploo chairman KPC Kundan Kashmiri said that the history can never forget their role and they are alive till the existence of this world. KHC led by Advocate M L Thusoo and P L Koul Budgami also observed the Balidan Diwas and paid glowing tributes to martyrs on this day.
