Asma Gul, Renu win medals for J&K 21st North Zone Sport Climbing Championship 9/28/2015 10:39:01 PM Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 28: Asma Gul and Renu Devi excelled in the ongoing 21st North Zone Sport Climbing Championship being held at Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF), New Delhi winning a silver and bronze medal respectively in Sub-junior girls' Lead event. As per the reports reaching here, the first place in sub-junior girls group clinched by Komal Saini of Haryana. The sub-junior boys' competition was in progress when the last reports were filed. Earlier, a 33-member state team flagged off by members of the Mountaineering Association of J&K, including its secretary, Ram Khajuria for Delhi. The new look team is led by Anil Kumar of RS Pura comprised 18 boys and eight girls in six different categories of men, women, boys, girls, sub-junior boys and sub-junior girls. Shawetica Khajuria, a national judge in Sport Climbing, is the coach of the team, while Sonam Sidharth and Niharika Sharma are the managers of the team. The team is being sponsored by the J&K State Sports Council. The competition is being held at 50 feet high international standard artificial climbing wall and boulders in the IMF complex as per international rules. Important to mention here that J&K lost the North Zone Champions Trophy in 2010 after winning it continuously for five years from 2005 to 2009. Meanwhile, as per the reports, after the North Zone competition, a 26-member team of IMF North Zone Committee will be selected for participation in the National Climbing competition to be held at the same venue from November 28 to November 30.   Share This News with Your Friends on Social Network     Comment on this Story
