Police making big money from "love birds" | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 28: Cops of a peripheral police station are these days alleged to be making big money from the young boys and girls who are found roaming aimlessly in their area of jurisdiction. A large area of this police station is secluded and young girls and boys often visit there on mobikes and in cars to pass time. Some of them even park their vehicles by the roadside to gossip. Cops all of a sudden appear on the spot and take these love birds to the police station where they are subjected to awkward questioning. To avoid harassment, they give cops whatever money they have, according to police sources. In some cases, parents of the "captured" couples are called to the police station and threatened to book their children under law. "Their strategy works and parents give the cops whatever they demand," sources alleged. A teenager of an influential family was also picked by these cops a few days back. He was allowed to go home early next morning in lieu of a hefty amount, sources alleged. Sources said the cops of this police station were now-a-days making big money from the love birds by threatening to book them under cases. The highway stretch, that falls under the jurisdiction of this police station, is often taken by the young college goers (boys and girls) for long drives. |
