J&K set to face Kerela in Ranji opener at Srinagar | Finally, BCCI acknowledges Ansari led JKCA | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 28 : All doubts and speculations about who will control the game in J&K, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finally acknowledged the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) group led by Minister for Sports, Imran Raza Ansari for the ongoing cricket season. Subsequently, the new body has been asked to 'go ahead' with regard to hosting of first match of the Ranji Trophy scheduled to be played at Sher-e-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, Srinagar from October one, which otherwise was doubtful till recently. A joint camp of those selected probable from both Jammu and Kashmir wings of the Association are presently attending to the nets at Srinagar under the guidance of two senior cricketers, former J&K skipper, Vijay Sharma and ex-Delhi captain and state subject holder, Mithun Manhas. "There seems hardly any doubt about the leadership in JKCA. The way BCCI returned the under-19 women's team of the Dr Farooq led group from Pune after entertaining our team, the things have been made clear to those who were doubtful about the Board's stand with regard to recognition, "Joint Secretary of the JKCA Jammu wing, Sudershan Mehta said. He further said that the Association now looks forward to a successful conduct of the upcoming Ranji Trophy match at Srinagar from October one. "We have raised a cohesive side for the Ranji Trophy season. Among the list of those selected from Jammu are capable of beating any side. The team has further strengthened with the return of Mithun Manhas to home state. Mithun along with Parvez Rasool, Ian Dev Singh, Ram Dayal, Shubam Khajuria and Mohd Mudisar will do wonders this season," he maintained. Meanwhile, the visiting side of Kerela has landed in Srinagar well in advance to acclimatise with the conditions of the Valley. A special team deputed by the BCCI for looking into the preparations on ground for the first class game reached here today from Srinagar. Subsequently, the team visited the ground to have a look at the turf and the outfield. |
