ESIC prefers retired paramedics over unemployed youth | | | Arun Singh Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 30: The Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has recruited retired government employees as paramedical staff in its hospital in Jammu, leaving qualified unemployed youths dejected. Sources told Early Times that ESIC had advertised posts for engagement of paramedical staff for its hospitals early this month and the interview of the same were held on September 16, 2015. "In its advertisement, the ESIC had invited the applications from the retired paramedical employees from Central Government/ State Government/ESI Corporation/Quasi Government/Municipal Body/Defence having age of not less than 64 years for six staff nurses having Diploma in General Nursing and Midwife or equivalent qualification for male nurse and registered nurse with Nursing Council of India/State, one Pharmacist (Allopathic) having degree in Pharmacy/Sr Secondary with Diploma in Pharmacy from a recognized Institution and should be Registered as Pharmacist under Pharmacy Act, 1948 and two Dressers having qualification of Matriculation or equivalent from a recognized Board and two year experience in application of plasters in an orthopedic unit of a registered/recognized Hospital," they said. They further said that all the posts were on contract basis through walk-in-interviews for a period of one year or till regular incumbent joins, whichever is earlier, at ESIC Model Hospital, Bar Brahmana Jammu. "It was very shocking that ESIC preferred retired employees over qualified unemployed youths whose career is getting spoiled without jobs but the move of ESIC for engagement of retired employees has come as a big blow and hindrance youths to get employment," they added. Brushing aside the sentiments of the unemployed youths, the ESIC conducted the interviews for the engagement paramedical staff on scheduled date and the list of the candidates of the selected candidates was issued on September 30. The selected candidates, who were over 64 years of age, engaged on fixed remuneration of Rs.15000/per month, reimbursement of conveyance according to their entitlement prior to their retirement subject to the maximum of Rs.2000/per month. |
