No condemnation, no strike call; separatists can't annoy their bosses | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 30: Residents of Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) hitting the streets and staging protests against the autocratic regime and demanding freedom from Pakistan has brought to fore how much people of PoK are fed up of Pakistan. Pertinently, CNN-IBN on September 29 exposed the real face of Pakistan by highlighting the massive protests in PoK. Protests were held against the Pakistani government in Muzaffarabad, Gilgit and Kotli. The authorities were shown using force to quell the rebellion in the region. Irony is that Islamabad never loses a chance to hit out at New Delhi for suppressing the rights of JK people. Separatists, who claim to be the champions of human rights have maintained silence over the issue and are shying away from commenting over the issue. "People in PoK taking to the streets and demanding freedom from Pakistan is a clear indication of the fact that they are facing oppression from the rulers and want to get rid of the autocratic regime," said a politician. He said that force personnel using brute force against the peaceful protesters and humiliating them is condemnable. "It's strange that separatists have maintained silence over the force personnel beating up the protesters. Had the same incident taken place in this part of Kashmir, separatists would have called for strike and instigated the people to hit the streets," he added. Separatists should see the writing on the wall and stop acting at the behest of their bosses sitting across the Line of Control (LoC) and stop misleading people. People of Jammu and Kashmir are fed up of violence and want to live a peaceful and prosperous life." However, a day after Pakistan government's brutality in PoK region was exposed, Pakistan's National Security Advisor (NSA) Sartaj Aziz claimed that the visuals were fake and it was nothing but propaganda. It seems someone needs to tell Aziz that visuals and pictures don't lie. Hashim Qureshi, who had hijacked Indian Airlines plane Ganga in 1971 and took it to Pakistan for which he was jailed and severely tortured, has come out strongly against Pakistan after the exposure. Reacting to the video showcasing Pakistan government's brutality in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, Qureshi said: "It is not shocking for me because I've been through the atrocities and the people are still going through them. Pakistan only talks about issues which are prevalent in Indian part of Kashmir. Pakistani security forces are no better than the British colonialists," Qureshi said. He said that Pakistan is not doing anything for the development of the region. "The PoK region is very rich in resources. Pakistan has no role to play in the prosperity of people. Till today Pakistan has built no factory in PoK, provided no employment opportunities," he said. An analyst while talking to Early Times said, " The Pakistan establishment has ensured that media doesn't grow in PoK so that atrocities committed by the Pakistani troopers don't get exposed and the brutalities committed on the masses are not highlighted." He said that areas of Kashmir which Pakistan occupied in 1947 are in shambles. "Had media been vibrant it would have highlighted the miseries of the people but due to Pakistan gagging the media nothing has come to fore during all these years," the analyst added. |
