J&K Industries and Commerce Department is headless | | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad Early Times Report Srinagar, Sept 30: The crucial Industries and Commerce department is without an administrative head to oversee its operations. The post of the commissioner secretary is lying vacant since Senior IAS Officer Khursheed A Ganai went on protest leave, after Government appointed, B R Sharma, as Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir. Sources said that the department is also without special secretary. "Though Sajad Ahmad Khan is the special secretary of the department but recently he was deputed by the government for some training course to Karela," sources said. They added that the day Kursheed Ahmad Ganai went on protest leave the matters of the secretary to government was looked after by the secretary in the government R.K Baghat. However, recently he was deputed to Bihar for election duty. "The whole Industries department is now suffering badly without its administrative heads," sources said. In absence of a head, the working in the department is badly suffering, and different files have been piling up over the last one month. Sources in the administration said that no efforts have been made by the PDP-BJP government to appoint an officer of IAS cadre to head the department. They said listed cases, land allotments, leasing of lands which need final approval of the secretary to the government are piling up with every passing day but the State Cabinet is yet to take a decision in this matter. According to the government officials, the decision regarding the appointment of the secretary to the government will come from the state cabinet. Meanwhile one of the cabinet ministers said that the government was in the process of finding an IAS officer for the secretary post and a decision in this regard would be taken soon. |
