Advertisement Notices turn farce; Ad-hocism underline JU administration | | | Early Times Report
Jammu Sept 30: For last ten years, Jammu University has earned dubious distinction of inviting applications for administrative positions, but adjusting only blue eyed against these positions. An insider informed Early Times that the posts of Registrar, Controller of Examination, Director College Development Council, Administrator GZSA have remained unfilled for the last over ten years and every year advertisements are issued just as formality with no serious efforts to fill these posts. "University Authority has put in place the junior most officers of the rank of Joint Registrars as Controller of Examination, Director, College Development Council and a teacher holding the post of Administrator GZSA having no experience in the administration, despite availability of senior most persons in the University" he added. While talking to Early Times, staffer told on the condition of anonymity that he had been applying for one of the advertised posts for the last over ten years, but JU administration has allegedly been mired in nepotism and favouritism . The sources further told that the University Authority prefers ad-hocism and accommodates its own favorites on administrative posts so that they dance to the tune of the Authority and serve as yes-men. A copy of advertisement notice issued vide No: Estab/NTW/FC&R/15/149-200 Dated 1-9-2015, which is in the possession of Early Times reads "the University reserves the right not to fill up any of the vacancies advertised". This confirms the impression that advertisement notice is issued publically every year just to hoodwink and gag the smoldering sentiments of aggrieved aspiring candidates. The sources further told Early Times that once Dr.J.S.Dev was selected and appointed as Registrar in 2001 but he was removed in 2004 because permanent officers on the administrative posts do not suit the Jammu University. These posts are of administrative nature and require persons with sound administrative experience from outside the University to run work without any prejudice, lamented an insider, adding that persons having background of teaching profession are misfit in these onerous assignments and that is why a chaos and confusion is growing in University Campus at the academic and administrative level with discontentment and desperation afflicting the senior most persons serving in the University. |
