| KVK Reasi organizes field day on pulse crops | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
REASI, Oct 2: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Reasi of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu organized field day on Kharif pulse crops at village Kanjli of Reasi district. KVK has laid Front Line Demonstrations on pulse crops in this village. Around 35 farmers participated in the programme. The programme was initiated by Dr Banarsi Lal, scientist with the warm welcome of the farmers. He started the programme with the brief introduction of Kharif pulse crops. He narrated that average pulse crops yield of Reasi district is low as compared to the national average yield and suggested the farmers that scientific cultivation of pulse crops can help them to increase the production.
He emphasized on timely weeding/hoeing in pulse crops and recommended certain weedicides in pulse crops which further help to increase the pulse production.
Dr Shahid Ahmad, Programme Co-ordinator, KVK, Reasi elaborated on important diseases of Kharif pulse crops and gave their proper control measures. He further narrated the control measures of major insects-pests in the pulse crops. He stressed on seed treatment in pulse crops. |
