Former 'failed' CM talks about irrelevant UN resolutions | Forgets JK's Accession to Union of India is final | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 2: The former Chief Minister and National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah these days is busy advising India and Pakistan how they can improve their relations, but his suggestions has no takers. When Omar was the Chief Minister he was snubbed on many occasions by the national leadership for poking his nose into the affairs which don't fall in his domain. It seems he has forgotten that as a Chief Minister he proved to be disaster and failed on all the fronts. During his tenure all the developmental works came to a grinding halt. He remained busy in raking up controversies like revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from the state and giving safe passage to the militants who had crossed over to Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). On Friday Omar tweeted: "Will someone please remind Pakistan that as per these UNSC resolutions they were supposed to vacate ALL of J&K Ist." It seems someone needs to tell Omar that UN resolutions became irrelevant when India and Pakistan signed Simla agreement in 1972. Nobody can deny the fact that J&K is an integral part of India and UN resolutions are no more applicable here. An analyst while talking to Early Times said: "Omar seems unaware about the history. India has made it clear time and again that no talks would be held on JK and there is no question of demilitarizing JK." He said that when Omar Abdullah was the Chief Minister he enjoyed all the privileges and used to swear by JK's accession to union of India. "Out of power Omar is indulging in rhetoric and has started harping about irrelevant UN resolutions. He is doing so to address his constituency in Kashmir and appease separatists," the analyst added. Referring to the recent video expose about people of PoK staging massive anti-government protest and demanding freedom from Pakistan, the analyst said, "The video clearly depicts that how people are fed up of Pakistan and its rulers. They were on roads demanding freedom. Omar's reaction to the video was that one video is not enough to come to the conclusion. His guarded response indicated that he doesn't want to annoy the hardliners. He (Omar) is just trying to play to the galleries and is trying to remain in the news. He should muster courage and declare that JK is an integral part of India and Pakistan has forcible occupied that part of Kashmir." Most Kashmir watchers are of the opinion that National Conference by talking about UN resolutions are trying to gain the lost ground and want to give separatists a point to agitate. "Omar and his party are leaving no stone unturned to vitiate the peaceful environment and create uncertainty in the Valley," said an expert. He said that politicians from mainstream parties should not talk about UN resolutions and their implementation. " If they (politicians) have to talk about UN resolutions they should join the separatist camp," the expert added. |
