| Dengue: One more tested positive | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 2: One more person was tested positive for dengue in Jammu region, taking the total number of patients suffering from the vector-borne disease to 28.
"Even though no fresh case of dengue was detected today but yesterday an 18-year-old youth belonging to Doda district was found to be infected with the dengue virus," Director of Health Services, Jammu, Dr Baljeet Singh Pathania told.
So far, 28 people were tested positive with the vector-borne disease, majority of whom have been treated and sent back to their homes.
On Tuesday, six persons including four males and two females were found to be affected with dengue after their blood samples were tested in the microbiology lab of Government Medical College hospital.
"Out of the six patients, four belong to Jammu district while two were from Kathua district," he said.
A health advisory has been issued by the Centre which has been widely published in local dailies to create awareness among people about the disease, Pathania said.
People need to take precautions to save themselves from mosquito bites and should discard any stagnant water which can become breeding ground for the vector, he said.
The health department claimed that they are fully equipped to treat patients suffering from dengue, adding that no hospital in the region has so far received any patient whose sickness has taken dangerous proportion. |
