Jitendra assures central assistance to Jammu's trade community | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 2: Dr Jitendra Singh today assured full Central assistance to boost trade and entrepreneurship in the State of Jammu & Kashmir and particularly in the Jammu region, which enjoys the advantage of being proximally located closer to North India's trade hubs like Ludhiana and Amritsar . He was addressing a function organized by the Jammu Chamber of Commerce & Industries (JCCI). Dr Jitendra Singh said, some of the recent decisions by the Central Government like, for example, constructing an Expressway corridor from Katra to Delhi and an Interstate Ravi Bridge at Keediyan Gadyal near Kathua would make transportation and movement easier, but there are other areas like power scarcity and land acquisition which need to be addressed by the State Government both at administrative as well as political level, he added. Recalling his long association with the Jammu Chamber of Commerce, Dr Jitendra Singh said, former President, Ram Sahai often raised the demand for setting up of a Rail Coach Factory in Jammu. He said, he had taken up this subject with the Union Railway Minister and he was told that at this stage, if not a rail coach factory, a rail coach repair unit could be planned and assured that he would follow up the issue. There are other issues raised by the Chambers of Commerce from time to time which include extension of tax holiday, etc., which, he said, need to be deliberated in detail from different angles. Dr Jitendra Singh said, he has already held a series of meetings with the representatives of Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) and invited the President and the office bearers of JCCI to come over to Delhi for a constructive dialogue with business leaders from across the country. Earlier, President of JCCI Rakesh Gupta welcomed Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh and said that they were proud to have such a son of the soil. |
