BGSBU professor opposes VC from Valley | | | K Koushal Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 2: A senior professor of Baba Gulam Shah Badshah (BGSB) University has been approaching senior functionaries in the government demanding a non-Kashmiri Vice Chancellor (VC) as he himself is an aspirant for the coveted post. Sources said a campaign has been launched in this regard to oppose any move of the government to appoint a VC from the Valley. "Some faculty members are part of the campaign and they are also well connected with the RSS-backed Sangarsh Samiti which was very active during the Amarnath land row in 2008," sources told Early Times. They said the agitation launched in the varsity some months ago was well-planned to create pressure on the government. "There was involvement of some senior professors in the agitation. They used and instigated some Kashmiri students and now have started a campaign against them," said sources. Meanwhile, students have also started exposing these professors. Some students told Early Times on the condition of anonymity that a senior professor was fully backing the students' protest only to create tension and take benefit from it to bag the coveted post of VC. These students said they have realized their precious time was wasted by these selfish professors who used them as cannon fodder. |
