Early Times Report
Srinagar, Oct 6: As Pratap Park is fast losing its credibility from amusement park to a space for Politicians to gain political points, Dr Farooq Abdullah is among the mainstream politicians to reach Pratap Park today to sell his sympathy notes among Protesting NYC Youth. As the NYC volunteers' hunger strike enters 36th day today, National Conference (NC) Patron, Dr Farooq Abdullah seeing space to gain Public Sympathy reached Pratap Park and interacted with Protesting Youth. Despite knowing NYC Volunteers were recruited on temporary bases in various government departments by his Government and later left in shambles after cancelling their appointment orders, Farooq Assured youth that "NC will fight for their Cause."
Abdullah according to eye witnesses maintained silence when he asked for Cheating with them by cancelling their appointment orders despite serving in various departments for up to four years. Pertinently after Abdullah, CPIM State Secretary and MLA Kulgam, Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami also thronged to Pratap Park today and interacted with Protestors; However, Protesting youth according to them well aware of Political gimmicks said that they have little hopes from such surprise visits of Politicians in their camps. As Pratap Park according to locals here instead an amusement park is now used for Political activities by Politicians to gain political points, few days back Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Ghulam Nabi Azad along with other congress leaders also visited camps of NYC Volunteers installed inside Pratap Park and rubbed their shoulders allegedly with fake Sympathy.
Protesting Casual and need base employees believe that around 60,000 daily and casual workers engaged in 1994 are awaiting regularization of their services for the past many years and despite repeated assurances from Finace Minister, Dr Haseeb Drabu, Protestors refuse to end their Hunger Strike unless government does not announce any concrete solution to their problems.
Following a Ruckus in assembly over Regularization of Daily rated employees working in different government departments since 1992 other day by Congress legislators, State Government according to sources today said that a factual inaccuracy and an infirmity have been noticed in the proposal relating to their engagement and the entire issue is being resubmitted to the Cabinet shortly. However, daily rated and need base employees of Various Departments said that in many cases Cabinet sanctions are sidelined on grounds of political rivalry like Regularization of 3660 employees of various departments.
They said that many Politicians who during their tenure of Power refused to regularize them despite green signal from finance department are now in queue outside Pratap Park to express fake sympathy with them.
Notably Regularization of employees also hogged headlines during NC-congress coalition government for many reasons including verbal clashes among coalition partners for erring official list of employees then selected for Regularization in a cabinet meeting of NC-Congress Ministers.
