Coalition Govt keen to restore Valley's composite culture | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Oct 13: The PDP-BJP coalition government led by Mufti Mohammed Sayed is trying its utmost to restore the composite culture of the State. According to highly placed sources the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed has taken a personnel initiative in this regard and has sought all help and cooperation from the Central Government in this regard. Sources said Sayeed has stressed on taking immediate steps for restoration of pluralistic character of the Kashmir Valley which has been constantly dented after the mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from Valley in 1989-90. Sources said the State Government is discussing the modalities for return and rehabilitation of displaced Pandits to valley and different options are being worked out in this regard. The Government before setting any such formula into motion will take the representatives of displaced Pandits into confidence, sources added. Sources said some groups within KPs are very well in contact of both State as well as Union Government and they have already rejected the homeland demand of Panun Kashmir as well as have opposed those KP organisations which are questioning the return formula of Government at this juncture. This group is very well in contact with the Government agencies and to evolve a consensus on the issue the government is trying to make it broad based by roping in more KP organisations, sources added. Sources said the Government is trying to giving a representative character to this group by making it broad based after inclusion of representatives from all districts of Valley in it. Sources said a KP leader who headed an organisation of Kashmiri Pandits at Delhi for over five years is already in contact with the government in this regard. The KP leader has already floated another organisation by including some social activists in Delhi and Jammu in it, Sources added. Sources said the leaders of the group are also in constant touch with other likeminded KP organisations in Jammu and Delhi in this regard and it has through various public statements criticised those individual KP organisations which have expressed reservations about return of Pandits to Valley and made it clear that Kashmir belongs to Pandits and they will mobilize the opinion in the exiled community for its return to its ancestral land. Sources said Chief Minister is also keen to provide all cooperation and encouragement to these organisations which are willing to cooperate with Government to make its return formula a success after the 26 long years. Mr Sayed has made it clear to his partymen as well as coalition partner that any further delay in this regard will complicate the situation further. He has gone o the extent that with mass exodus of Pandits image of Kashmir as a secular land has been dented. Sources said to restore the confidence of Pandits the CM has also arranged a meeting with management of DAV School Srinagar and representatives of Arya Samaj who were earlier fighting for permission regarding renovation of DAV School Jawahar Nagar. Understanding the problem of the DAV management the CM said to solve the problem will act as a CBM with migrants and also help in improving image of the State Government as Arya Samaj which is a secular socio- religious organisation of India can be of a lot of help to State Government in its mission regarding return of Pandits to Valley. |
