After banning RSS Shakha in campus, "pro-BJP" VC of Jammu University declares ABVP as "outlaw" | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 13: After banning "communal" RSS Shakha in the campus of Jammu University, the over-smart Vice Chancellor of Jammu University, Prof R D Sharma also denied permission to the "fundamentalist" ABVP-student wing of Sangh Parivar, to organise a non-political function in the University campus. It is first time in the history of Jammu University that ABVP, which is largest student organisation of the country, is denied permission to organise purely a function related to students. ABVP had announced to organise a function to function in which newly elected president of the Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) Satinder Awana and other senior leaders were invited. This evening when ABVP leaders started setting up stage for Wednesday's function, Jammu University authorities did not allow them to prepare stage. Quoting orders of the Vice Chancellor, University authorities told ABVP leaders that Vice Chancellor has made it clear that fundamentalist groups like ABVP would not be allowed to organise any functioning in the campus. This attitude of the Vice Chancellor forced the students to stage a demonstration and this drama continued till late this evening. After students locked Vice Chancellor, he rescued himself with the support of police. What is most surprisingly Prof R D Sharma was appointed as Vice Chancellor of Jammu University with the whole hearted support of some ABVP and BJP leaders but after his appointment the Vice Chancellor has started showing his teeth to both RSS and ABVP. The Vice Chancellor is not only showing his power to RSS and ABVP only, he is not giving due respect to some senior BJP leaders of the State also. Credible sources said that recently a delegation of RSS leaders met with the Vice Chancellor as a courtesy call. Instead of treating their guests humbly, Vice Chancellor used very arrogant language. In the front of the delegation, the Vice Chancellor compared RSS with fundamentalist and other militant groups. "He arrogantly made it clear to the delegation that he will not allow the RSS Shakha to function in the campus", sources said and added that after that meeting, the Vice Chancellor has made it a point that there should be no RSS Shakha in the campus. |
