Five years RI, fine Rs 50,000 awarded to 'narco-Smuggler' | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 13: Principal Sessions Judge Udhampur R S Jain today awarded five years rigorous imprisonment and fine Rs 50,000 to Shabu Ahmed s/o Bundan Mian of Pota Khumarian, Bhisharpur, District Pilibhit, (UP), who was facing trial in charas smuggling case. Principal Sessions Judge Udhampur R S Jain after hearing both the sides observed that the facts as proved in the present case are that the accused was consciously transporting charas. However, the fact that accused is an old person cannot be lost sight. With these observations Court ordered that the convict Shabu Ahmed is sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of five years and a fine of Rs.50,000/- u/s 20 (b) (ii) (B) of the NDPS Act . According to the prosecution case on 8/10/2011 at SCP Kral Nullah Kud during checking, police intercepted accused Shabu Ahmed travelling in tanker No JK02AP/7532 from Srinagar and recovered Charas weighing 400 grams from the possession of the accused. Accordingly, FIR No.66/2011 for offence u/s 8/20 of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 was registered in police station Kud, Udhampur. On conclusion of the investigation, the IO finding the accused guilty of offence u/s 8/20 NDPS Act presented the present challan against accused Shabu Ahmed. |
