Nine- day long Navratra celebrations begin across Jammu region | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 13: The nine -day long celebrations of Navratra have started all over Jammu region from first Navratra today. All the temples of Godess Durga were decorated with flowers and illuminated with lights by the devotees all over the region. In connection with Navratra festival, a nine -day long Chhat Chandi Maha Yagya organized by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board started at holy cave Shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi, Katra today amidst the chanting of Vedic Mantras and performance of other religious ceremonies. The Maha Yagya, which is performed at holy Cave Shrine during Navratras for peace and prosperity will conclude with Puran Ahuti on Mahanavmi. The Bhawan of Mata, and the area surrounding it were decorated with flowers. The Shrine Board has made elaborate arrangements for the large number of pilgrims expected to visit the holy cave during the Navratras. Thousands of pilgrims visited Bhawe Wali Mata Temple at Bahu Fort here on the first Navratra today and there was a bee line of pilgrims waiting in long queues for darshan in the holy shrine from early morning. The rush increased on the passing of the day and it continued up to late night. As per reports from Kathua and Samba districts thousands of pilgrims performed darshan at Sukhrala Mata Mandir, Billawar, Joda Wali Mata Mandir, Jasrota Mata Temple in Kathua district and Cheechi Mata Temple in Samba district on first Navratra today. The nine -day long Ram Leela also started at Basohli and Kathua townships this evening. The Basohli town is famous for staging Ram Leela all over country. All the City temples were tastefully decorated befitting the occasion but the main attractor was the historic Kali Temple (Bahu Fort) recorded large number of pilgrims queued up to have darshan of popularly known deity the 'Bawe wali mata'. Since immemorial times the Bahu Fort temple has a great importance among the people of Jammu city and still attracts large number of devotees from remote and bordering area also visit to pay obeisance not during only navratras but during the calendar year. More than 50,000 devotees today visited Bahu Fort to have darshan of the deity of Kali Mata installed in the premises of the Fort. Amidst enchanting of slogans in praise of Mata, hundreds devotees were seen lined up in the premises of the temple very much before dawn while the district administration has made adequate arrangements for the security and smooth conduct of Yatra. Meanwhile thousands of devotees reportedly thronged the world famous Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine situated in Trikuta Hills of Reasi district to pay obeisance on the first day of the start of Navratra festivity. |
