Kishtwar police holds drug de-addiction camp | | | Early Times Report Kishtwar Nov 18: The police today organized one day 'Drug De-Addiction Camp' at Chowgan ground, Kishtwar. A large number of people from all sections of the society participated. SSP Kishtwar Sandeep Wazir inaugurated the camp. Dr. Abhishek Chouhan, Lecturer Department of Psychiatry, GMC headed the team comprising Anisha Dhar (Psychologist), Manpreet Kour (Supervisor) Harmeet Singh (Pharmacist) and Som Dutt Khajuria, Social worker give elaborated lecture on the uses and abuses of drugs and its impact on society. Early Times Correspondent Asif Iqbal Naik also spoke on changing trends and on the use of other available drugs like ink fluid, Iodex, Boot polish, Gutkha, etc particularly after government launched massive drive against Charas, Heroine, Cocaine, Brown sugar and other narcotics that come under NDPS Act. While talking to Early Times, SSP Kishtwar said that the aim and objective of organizing this camp is to make the people of Kishtwar, particularly youths aware about the drug menace. He said that the main responsibility lies on the parents of young children and urged upon the parents to keep strict vigil on their children's so that they could be prevented from falling prey to growing drug menace. He said that the doors of his office will remain open in case anyone required help from police with regard to de-addiction of their near and dear ones. He said that anyone suffering from drug addiction problem should approach nearest police station and assured that police will provide them the counseling as well as will help them in their treatment. He said that police will act strictly against those persons involved in drug trafficking and seek public support in curbing such crimes that has made the society hallow. The team of police party led by Dy. SP HQ Kishtwar Touseef Ahmed along with Sub Inspector Nayeem ul Haq did a tremendous hard work for conduct of today's successful camp by reaching out to drivers, drug addicted people and convinced them to participate in today's camp beside start a treatment towards "Drugs free" society. The civil society appreciated this initiative of Jammu and Kashmir Police in one voice and demanded organizing some more camps of this type in future as well. |
