Police Inspector gets choice posting, thanks to BJP leader | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 18: A police Inspector has been posted as Station House Officer (SHO) of an important police station in Jammu city on the recommendationS of a BJP leader. "The name of the Inspector was not figuring in the list of officers shortlisted for manning the police station which is considered to be one of the biggest in Jammu district under whose jurisdiction two police posts fall," sources told Early Times on Wednesday. However, they said, the BJP Minister's wish prevailed and many capable officers were ignored. One of the reasons why the particular police station is every officer's first choice is because posh colonies of Transport Nagar and several offices come under its jurisdiction. "The SHO who was in command earlier had been shifted to some other district due to which the post was vacant. Hectic efforts were made by several officers to get the prized posting, but the officer, who was already serving in one of the police stations of the city, ultimately got the charge, thanks to the blessings of his political boss," sources said. "The new SHO was eyeing the police station for quite sometime. He was using all his resources to get the posting of his choice. Besides the BJP Minister he had approached two-three other influential persons. However, other recommendations were ignored at the initial stage itself. He then finally approached the BJP Minister whose intervention got him the plum post," sources added. Notably, the said police officer had moved back to city a few months ago only as he was serving as SHO in one of the police stations located at the tail end of the city. He was then transferred from there and appointed SHO of a police station situated in the heart of the city. However, he was not satisfied with it and was desperate to move to some other police station, sources added. |
