Union Ministry seeks report on violation of GOI norms | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 18: Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has sought report regarding the violation of GOI norms in allotments of contracts for roads and bridges in J&K State under CRF and other centrally sponsored schemes on a petition filed by Dogra Kranti Dal (DKD) J&K to the Union Minister for roads Nitin Gadkari. The petitioner Gagan Partap Singh secretary of DKD, a registered body of Jammu youth, alleged that contracts of roads and bridges in the state of J&K as sanctioned by the govt. of India continue to be allotted to blue eyed contractors by the helmsman in violation of the procedures prescribed by GOI. He said that works worth hundreds of crores were executed departmentally without inviting tenders in the Union Govt.'s flagship scheme of PMGSY and the same practice of norms violations was being replicated under CRF by the PWD in J&K. The complainant while seeking the indulgence of the Union Roads and Surface Transport Minister alleged that vicious nexus of PWD and contractors was operational in the state and funds provided by GOI were being looted and plundered in connivance. |
