Secretary declares open State Championship

JAMMU, Nov 28 : Secretary, State Sports Council, Javed Shah today declared open the 22nd State Billiards and Snooker Championship, organised by J&K Billiards and Snooker Association (JKBSA), at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here.
To begin with, the maiden sub-junior boys' competition got underway on the inaugural day. A record 30 entries have been received in this age group. "We have received encouraging response in the first-ever sub-junior age group with around 30 boys entered in snooker event," said president of the Association, Sanjeev Gupta.
In the meantime, the organising committee has fixed November 29 as last date for entries in junior snooker event scheduled to start from November 30.
Speaking to the gathering, the chief guest, Secretary, State Sports Council encouraged young boys taking part in the competition and assured the Association of all possible help in promoting the game in the state. The Secretary was also given a brief note of the various events to be held in this fortnight-long championship by chairman of the Association, Siddharth Sharma amidst appreciation for extending a helping hand. Earlier, general secretary of the Association, Vishal Abrol, accompanied by senior vice president, Jaideep Manocha, welcomed the chief guest and other distinguished guests on inaugural function.
A host of others guests present included Chief Sports Officer, Abdul Qayoom, Rajan Sharma, Ravi Singh, Ashok Singh, Satish Gupta, Sohail Khalid and Rahil Gupta.
