How BJP is contradicting BJP | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 28: The spurt in terror-related activities in Kashmir Valley has divided the BJP. On the one hand, BJP national president Amit Shah, BJP Ministers in the Mufti-led coalition Government, including Deputy Chief Minister, and Union Ministers like Nitin Gadkari and Manohar Parrikar have been claiming that the situation in Kashmir has greatly improved and advising the media not to give any importance to the waving of Pakistani and IS flags in the Valley as these are handiworks of some fringe elements. They have also been accusing the media of blowing things out of proportion and commending the efforts of the State Government to contain the subversives. They feel satisfied with the prevailing situation in Kashmir. On the other hand, the newly-appointed spokesperson of the BJP in J&K and another BJP leader, who, likes this spokesperson, joined the BJP only a few months ago and who heads the J&K BJP Sainik Morcha, are speaking a different language, They have been expressing grave concern over the developing situation in the Kashmir Valley. The BJP spokesperson has even gone to the extent of appealing to the nationalists to rise to the occasion and defeat the subversives. Besides, he has been urging the State Government to take note of the developing situation and act to restore peace in the State by crushing the anti-national forces. The other day, he asked the State Government to "take effective steps to check activities of anti-national forces" and said that the security scenario in the Valley is frightening. "The security scenario in the Valley is becoming challenging day by day and there were repeated events of hoisting Pakistani and ISIS flags. Even on the ancestral house of the Chief Minister, a Pakistani flag was hoisted," he said, adding that "the number of casualties of officers and soldiers of the armed forces is increasing". He even asked the State Government to "see the ground realities" and said that "We cannot afford to close our eyes and tolerate the aggravating security situation for the sake of maintaining goody-goody relations with extremists and by keeping the extreme desire of having friendly relations with Pakistan". He censured the PDP-BJP Government in a way. Why this contradictory stand on an important issue? The BJP, it seems, is fooling the people by making contradictory statements. Besides, its leadership is itself becoming a fool in the eyes of the people by making appeals to the Government of which it is a part. The appeals being issued by the BJP spokesperson only show that the BJP has no say in the State Government and it's position is just like that of the Congress whose only role during the earlier regime was to endorse the actions of the NC. It is B-team of the PDP like the Congress was the B-team of the NC. The BJP must stop misleading people. It should either assert its position and authority or it should sit in the opposition. As a ruling party it has no right to make appeals to its own Government. And by the way why should the people of Jammu region pay any heed to the BJP's appeal for unity among nationalists. The BJP has already alienated the nationalists by indulging in politics of deceit, bluff, double-speak and shameful U-turns. No one in Jammu trusts the BJP and it has fallen from grace. |
