Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 29: PDP-BJP coordination committee has been pushed into a state of oblivion with no meeting held during the last over three months by the alliance Government. In the backdrop of disgruntlement and grudge nourished by some junior Ministers of BJP and a visible disharmony between the two senior cabinet Ministers of the two parties, even as holding of the meeting has been necessitated, there is no initiative from either end. Coordination Committee held its last meeting in Srinagar on August 18, after postponing it twice.
Sources said the earnestness for convening the Coordination Committee meeting has been felt for some time mainly within the BJP but the senior Minister including Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh who are the members of the high level panel have not taken the call of this feeling nor given thought to the gravity of grudge of the party over various issues. Though it was agreed upon by both the alliance partners at the time of formation of this 10 member panel that the latter would ensure better understanding and work in consonance with the Common Minimum Programme, it has not been proved of much help to grease the wheels of the coalition partners whenever these get stuck in some trouble, said the sources.
Sources said a section within the BJP is also ruing the fact that when it was decided that the Coordination Committee would meet periodically, whether there is any contentious issue or not, why there is no meeting for the last over three months. Convening of meeting at regular intervals is also important to see if the ministers are working in harmony and the ministries are working in tandem with the spirit of the coalition, sources said as is being strongly felt within the BJP junior ministers who have for a long time been feeling they are being ignored in matters of governance and not taken on board even when important decisions are taken within their own ministries.
