Jammu, Nov 29: The BJP is likely to face more trouble in coming days as one of the party legislators Dr. Davinder Kumar on Sunday threatened that he along with half a dozen other legislators would resign if the issue of reservation promotion is not solved. Addressing a convention organized by J&K Reserved Categories Employees Association, ST, ST, OBC, RBA and ALC employees here, Kumar assured that reservation granted to them under constitution would not be compromised "at any cost." Dr Kumar said he along with other seven MLAs from reserved caste communities would resign from the party if the BJP failed to defend constitutional right of these communities. "I talked to other MLAs (from SC community), who have assured me that the rights given to the deprived community would not be snatched. It is a conspiracy against the deprived community," he said. He said the Government usually shows reluctance to implement orders of courts and decisions of Union Government. "But in this case when the High Court ordered scrapping of benefits of promotion under reserved category, the entire Government machinery was participating very actively," Dr Kumar said. "There is more than 65% ST, ST, OBC, RBA and ALC population residing in J&K but no one is concerned about them," he added. According to him seven MLAs from BJP including Dr Manyal (MLA Samba), Bali Bhagat (Forest Minister and MLA Raipur), Dina Nath Bhagat (MLA Chenani), Dr Krishan Lal (MLA Chamb), Dr Kuldeep Kumar (MLA Hiranagar), Dr Gagan Bhagat (MLA R S Pura), and Neelam Langeh (MLA Ramban) would resign from the BJP if any decision is taken against the "deprived community". Only two MLAs-Dr Manyal and Dina Nath Bhagat-out of these seven MLAs named by Dr Kumar were present in the convention, though. Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker Legislative Assembly, Nazir Ahmed Khan also announced that he would resign from the party if the cause of the communities would not be supported. "Bring bill on the issue in the House I will support it," he asked the BJP-PDP Government. The convention was attended by Minister for CAPD, Zulfkar Choudhary, Minister for Transport Abdul Gani Kohli, Minister for Cooperatives T Dorjay from ST community, while MLAs from other political parties were present and they assured to support the cause. The J&K Reserved Categories Employees Association is leading the campaign under the leadership of Dr Sanjay Bhasin. |
