JAMMU, Dec 22: Despite lapse of six years, construction work of primary health centre at Thial of Block Majlata is hanging in balance. Ram Lal, a local resident told Early Times that the Public Work Department (PWD) had started works of such health institutions in year 2009 but surprisingly even after lapse of six years, work is still incomplete. Castigating state government, they further said that being poor people of remote area, they don't have money to visit adjoining health institutions. "To understand plight of the locals, one has to spent time with us, to know how we struggle in odd hours, in case of emergency. We request Mufti Mohammed Sayeed led state government to expedite on-going development works in rural areas, especially related to health sector", they added. "Politician treat us only as voters and during elections, they come and go. The promises remain unkept", they said. They further said that the PHC Thail is catering to more than 20 thousand people of dozens of villages. "This PHC has no laboratory services and acute dearth of manpower while medicines are also found missing", he rued, adding that even for a minor ache in teeth, one has to cover several miles on foot and later 2o kilometers by bus to reach Majalta. XEN PWD Udhampur said that the structure of second story of PHC Thial was almost complete and rest of others like furnishing work would be completed within a month period. |
