Opposition playing petty politics over NFSA: Mahajan Several NC Panchs, Sarpanchs join PDP 12/22/2015 10:58:49 PM Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 22: Several Panchayat members of National Conference (NC) from Poonch district Tuesday joined Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) in the presence of party General Secretary Ved Mahajan. Prominent among those who joined PDP include Ch Mohd Shabir Chawan, Sarpanch Village Khanetar, Panchs Ch Mohd Sharif Paswal of Khanetar, Ch Mohd Farooq Bajar of Khari, Ch Mohd Ishaq of Village Keneter, Ch Mohd Rafiq of Keneter Poonch, Ch. Mohd Aslam of Keneter, Ch Mukhtar Ahmed of Kenetar along with hundreds of his supporters. Mahajan while welcoming the new entrants accused the opposition of playing politics over implementation of National Food Security Act (NFSA) in Jammu and Kashmir. He said it is a path-breaking initiative aimed at providing highly subsidized rations to the poorest of the poor and the downtrodden. Mahajan said instead of appreciating this landmark decision, the opposition has started playing petty politics over the issue.He said the only hurdle that was being faced by the state in the implementation of the Food Security Law was that the same was earlier being sought to be implemented on the basis of the 2001 census, while the same is now being implemented on the basis of the 2011 census. "We must not play politics over a piece of legislation which seeks to benefit the poor and the down-trodden, this legislation will end-up benefitting a large number of people," He said.
