Jammu, Jan1: A deputation of All Artist's Welfare Association, Jammu (AAWAJ) that met Priya Sethi MoS, Education, Information and Culture has urged the minister to replace district drama competition with 'theatre festival' so that maximum participation of theatre groups was possible which will also create a conducive and congenial atmosphere during the festival and after its culmination too. The members besides apprised the minister about the difficulties being faced by the artist's fraternity especially indigents and theatre artist. The deputation also made aware the minister that for the last three years pensions in favour of the indigents artists and the writers have not been released while few of whom have passed away. While apprising about the functioning of the academy, Kamal Sharma, president AAWAJ said that the academy is known for the promotion and dissemination of art and culture but unfortunately since last many years there is no culture officer that points towards deliberate intention of the some vested interest people inside the Academy to crush the culture and heritage. Priya Sethi gave a patient hearing to the deputation and assured to take an early action in order to alleviate the art and the artists as well. Meanwhile the members also met with. Gagan Bhagat ,M.L.A, R. S Pura, Raman Bhalla former MLA and minister , Aziz Hajni, secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Vijay Singh Sambyal director Radio Kashmir Jammu and extended their congratulations and best wishes for the new year and the achievements and progress for the alleviation of art and culture and welfare of the common masses as well, The artists who were in the deputation included Ravi Tickoo,Sudesh Manhas, Santosh Bandral, Seema Dogra, Neeraj Sethi Vijay Sharma. Ravinder Sharma , Rani Kulbir Kour and Neha Raina and others. |
