Jammu, Jan 1: In what could be termed as negligence of state government towards education sector as the building of examination hall of Government Higher Secondary School, Jakh of Vijaypur zone, was sanctioned seven years back but still the building is incomplete due to which other classes of school have to be suspended during exam. Pleading anonymity, a local told Early Times that in the year 2008 state government sanctioned the examination hall building to GHSS Jakh at an estimated cost of Rs. 25Lakhs on the demand of locals but surprisingly, at the end of same year contractor completed plinth of the building but the construction work was stopped for reason best known to authorities of education department. They further said that more than 300 students are enrolled each year from class IX- XII in the school. The class rooms are sufficient but during exams, the classes have to be suspended. "At one hand Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education made bi-annually examination centre in school which have inadequate infrastructure to conduct such type of examination", they said. They further said that many times locals urged contractor to resume work but he rued that he had done work to the tune of nearly five lakhs but the executing agency released only two lakhs. Chief Education Officer Samba didn't respond to repeated calls. |
