Omar challenges ailing CM, faces public anger | | | Early Times Report srinagar, Jan 1: Even as the people cutting across party and individual ideologies have been praying for speedy recovery of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed who is hospitalized in AIIMS for around a week, his predecessor and National Conference president Omar Abdullah today found it opportune time to challenge the ailing man asking him to step down if he can't act. Asserting that he fully supports the two-flag order, Omar today accused Mufti of failing to defend the State's dignity from the 'nefarious plans of allies'. "If Mufti Sayeed can't defend the State's dignity & flag from the nefarious plans of his allies he should step down & find someone who can!!!," Omar said. "Here's what I'll say - so long as J&K is a part of India the two flags will continue to fly & we'll take pride in it," he added. "Why is only J&K expected to respect the terms of accession while the rest of the country can disregard them with impunity?" he said in a dozen odd tweets. A two-judge bench today stayed its earlier order allowing the State Government to use both the Tricolour as well as the State flag on official buildings and vehicles. But Omar's tweets yet again failed to attract any appreciation. "This is silly of you to ridicule a man who is ill. You should get some manners," replied one Dolly. Some other followers as usual said that having been "thrown out of power", Omar has only one job and that is to Tweet. "Idle Man's Brain is the Devil's Workshop," Tweeted another follower. Since December 24, Mufti has been hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit at AIIMS with complaints of chest infection. He is being administered multiple drugs but is yet to recover. At this critical juncture, Omar found reasons to ridicule the 79-year-old man but ended up drawing public criticism |
