Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 1: Jammu and Kashmir Centre for Creative Arts (JKCCA), Jammu organized a felicitation ceremony at Raja Ravi Verma Art Gallery, Pune (Maharashtra) where Pran Kishore Kaul, a veteran writer, painter, director, producer and broadcaster of J&K state was felicitated. He was honoured for his outstanding contribution in the field of art, culture and languages. Sanjay Nahar, a noted educationist, social worker and President, 'Sarhad" a leading NGO of Pune was the Chief Guest on this occasion. Murli Lohati, a veteran painter belonging to Pune was the Guest of Honour whereas K S Gill, Dharminder Sharma (Amritsar) and Romesh Bhosale (Pune), well known artists were Special Guests of the function. A number of artists, intellectuals, writers and art lovers were present on this occasion. Speaking on this occasion OP Sharma, Director, JKCCA presented his views about the activities of the organization and its future plans. He said that JKCCA has been working with full zeal for the promotion, development and propagation of art, culture & languages for the last sixteen years. Born in 1926, in Mallapora, Srinagar (J&K) Pran Kishore Kaul did his graduation from Punjab University, Lahore during 1947. Writer & self-taught painter was influenced by renowned painters like royal portrait painter Maheshwar Nath Dhar, famous landscapists, D N Wali and Sat Lal Kampassi, besides his father, floral designer as a passion. He started regular painting during college days, when he came in touch with a group of young painters like S N Bhat, Triloke Kaul, G R Santosh, P N Kachroo, Bansi Parimoo who were greatly motivated by Raza when the latter came to Kashmir to form 'Progressive Artists Association'. Though actively involved in theatre, broadcasting, television, films and his literary pursuits, he participated in different exhibitions. He has been awarded State Award by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Sahitya Akademi Award, Robes of Honour J&K Academy and the University of Kashmir; National Awards for Radio Drama and Documentary; Best Writer Awards for TV Serials- Gul Gulshan Gulfam, Ghuttan, Junoon. He has been Leader and Director- Indian Cultural Delegation to 12th Festival of Asian Arts in Hong Kong; 7th Polar Meets Solar Festival of Short Films of India and Kenya by FTII, Pune, Pre- Italia XXX for Radio and Television at Milan, Italy. He has to his credit the publications like Sheen Ta Vatapod (Novel in Kashmiri), Snow, The Bridle Path (English translation of the above.), Gul Gulshan Gulfam (Novel in Kashmiri), Gul Gulshan Gulfam (English Translation). |
