Batpora attack punctures Farooq's motivated claim | Stand on scourge of terror untenable | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 22: NC president and former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah the other day made a ridiculous statement while accusing PDP president Mehbooba Mufti of creating political chaos in the state. "If they cannot make the government, then they should make it clear so that we can take the next stand, whatever it is. Why keep people waiting in a situation where terrorism is all over," he said in Jammu while talking to reporters. Underline the line "why keep people waiting in a situation where terrorism is all over". If one goes by what he said, then it can be said that all is well with Kashmir and there is perfect peace prevailing there. Only an irresponsible politician like him could make such an atrocious statement. Interestingly, his spurious and motivated claim was punctured the same day. In fact, when he was making the outrageous and uncalled for statement that there is no terrorism in the state, the Indian security forces were after the Pakistani-sponsored terrorists, who had entered Batpora village in the Kashmir's Pulwama district to cause mayhem there. The clash between the determined Indian security forces as well as Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Pakistani-sponsored dread terrorists resulted in the liquidation of Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists Riyaz Naik and Lateef Dar. A civilian also got killed during the cross-firing, which triggered protests in the area. Those who protested were not the supporters of India; they were on the side of the terrorists. The truth is that Kashmir has been witnessing terrorist attacks at regular intervals. It is because of the splendid role of our dedicated troops and the supreme sacrifices that they make that the state is being protected against the Pakistani onslaughts. But what has Farooq Abdullah to do with the ongoing orgy of death and destruction; he and his party are interested only in power and nothing else. He and his ilk are not under any threat because they enjoy a foolproof security. It is the unarmed innocent civilians who get killed. It is the leaders like Farooq Abdullah who have been squarely responsible for what has been happening in the state since 1987, when the NC and the Congress joined hands to rig on an unprecedented scale the assembly elections to grab power. The memory of what Farooq Abdullah said after he dissolved his cabinet and fled away to London in January 1990 to save his skin and create a serious problem for India in Kashmir is still fresh in our minds. He had asked the Kashmiri youth to cross over to Pakistan/Pakistan-occupied-Jammu and Kashmir and get arms training to fight the Indian state. The fundamental problem is that New Delhi has never ever acted against such dubious political persons. The situation under the so-called nationalist regime of the BJP has been no different. In fact, the things have assumed alarming proportions under the BJP regime. |
