CWA meets Secretary CAPD, discusses non-availability of ration | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 5: A deputation of Consumer Welfare Association (CWA) met Sorab Bhagat, Secretary CAPD regarding non-supply of ration for the last more than 3-4 months and various pressing issues faced by the consumers. The CWA deputation complained that none of the items including Rice, Sugar or Atta is available with Ration Dealers and different reasons are being attributed for non availability of ration. Whatever be the reasons the public is unnecessarily being made to suffer. The deputation led by Vikram Gour, President included Er. A K Arora, Er. A K Koul and Chander Prakash also raised other issues including i) progress of issuance of new ration cards, ii) implementation of Food Security Act, iii) issuance of digital ration cards as identification certificates, to those permanent ration card holders who are either not eligible for ration under the new guidelines or want to surrender this facility, iv) Direct Bank Transfer (DBT) of subsidy to consumers in lieu of ration on the pattern of Chandigarh /Pondichery. Secretary, CAPD said that he is in know of the problems faced by the consumers and assured that immediate steps are being taken to streamline distribution of food grains. |
