| Omar drains energy on tweets, Mehbooba chooses to ignore | | PDP chief utilizing her time, energy in consolidating party | | ET Report
Jammu, Feb 5: Maturity and ripeness in a field like politics reflects from the conduct and demeanour of the person in situations of difficulty and dilemma. That is how PDP president Mehbooba Mufti's persona can be gauged, not with respect to formation of the government in the state, instead towards handling opposition and her counterpart Omar Abdullah, NC president. The latter has tired himself for the last one month in tweeting over every next day with loads of sarcasm against PDP and its chief, only to be completely ignored by the latter.
That Omar has been tweeting on every small, big development after demise of late CM Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is too known a fact to make a mention. The fact of the matter and the point in reference is how these tweets have impacted upon the political scenario and on who these are being directed. Little or nothing, on both the fronts. As for Mehbooba Mufti, she has not even responded indirectly, not to speak of retorting or reacting to what Omar has been tweeting intermittently,
While Omar has showed impromptu response to political developments that unfolded towards formation of government , most of these were uncalled for and unwarranted under such circumstances. It exhibited his lack of patience and edgy and annoyed state of mind, as if trying to show PDP should have acted in manner the way he desired so or deemed proper. While these were completely ignored by PDP and Mehbooba, some tweets were not seen in good taste within his own party, say sources in NC.
Omar is not naïve or new to politics in J&K which is different from other states in many respects. Yet he conducts in manner that reflects he is somewhat intolerant towards PDP chief or is simply immature and childish at times, as against a calm, composed and calculated Mehbooba. Under certain situations, politics demands wait and watch policy which Omar lacks , feel some second rung NC leaders who add that Omar should not forget the fact that besides being NC's president, he has remained Chief Minister of the state. IF at all tweets loaded with sarcasm and criticism are so important , this task should be handled by other leaders in the party whom Omar deems proper to assign, the seasoned leaders say.
On the contrary, instead of draining her energy, Mehbooba is focussing on her party work even in Jammu where her political stakes are not so strong nor high in present situation, which only goes to show her maturity and calculated strategy. |
