Infant, brother-sister murder case…... Dr. Arif Maghribi Khan 2/6/2016 12:09:25 AM This refers to press release of JK police in January 2016 regarding killing of infants by their mother and attempt to commit suicide in Annantnag, Leave world alone, if this had happened in any other state it would have sent jitters. But here no body talks be it women politicians or women's commission. Has any women personality interacted with her.Nobody can condone such crime ,but there are larger questions to be answered, if its extramarital affair, then we must gauge where our society is going? Do our clerics feel any responsibility? There are four Fridays during a month, how many Fridays they devote to such topics as well as domestic abuse of women. It also raises serious questions about emancipation of women ,few seminars at posh hotels don't give women their rights! What happened to Toll free number meant for women in distress? Will our civil society react or is their reaction limited to some issues? Although JK police is still investigating the case I humbly request them to constitute a team of Psychiatrists and Psychologists also, as morbid jealousy [ a person is preoccupied with the thought that their spouse or sexual partner is being unfaithful without having any real proof, along with socially unacceptable or abnormal behaviour related to these thoughts, is common in many psychotic disorders ,like schizophrenia. Also Van Gogh syndrome [dramatic self mutilation in schizophrenia , named after Vincent Gogh who had cut his ear during illness] must be ruled out. This will also clear the fact whether she was severely depressed or there was any abetment to suicide. These small steps will save lives of many women in future.. Dr.Arif Maghribi Khan.
